The Kennebec River from Waterville to Sidney offers beautiful scenery, wildlife viewing (including bald eagles, ospreys, ducks, and the occasional deer and red fox) and fantastic fishing for smallmouth bass, striped bass and brown trout. During most of the year, there are no portages and very little boat traffic or fishing pressure. In early spring, there may be one small portage depending on water levels. This trip takes approximately 6 hours.
Guided Fishing - We offer a variety of guided trips on the river, including fly fishing for brown trout, smallmouth bass and striped bass trips. Trout and striper fishing is best in early spring and fall, while the smallmouth fishing is excellent all summer long. Fish the river in square stern canoes or drift boats.
Canoe Shuttle - MWT organizes canoe/kayak trips down river for people who wish to go unguided. Shuttle's include canoe/kayak rentals and vehicle shuttle from Waterville to Sidney. This is an easy and fun way to explore the river!
Lobster Bake - We also offer a lobster bake at the end of the day. The meal is served at the Sidney landing at a campsite with wonderful views of the river. Eating delicious Maine lobster, steamers, corn, rolls and chips is a great way to end a perfect day on the river. Steak, chicken or vegetarian meals are also available.
